1930s Streamline themed CAD model

IDEATION

FINALISING DESIGN DIRECTION

This page is a visual representation of early exploration of the form I later chose to develop. A hybrid of classic style in directional form evolved into a more contemporary form maintaining its classical heritage. Through my ideation, I have been inspired by the directional form of a stingray and choose to incorporate this in my final design.

FORM

USING 1930s STREAMLINE TREND

This brief has a predominant emphasis on the aesthetical properties of the industrial design. The product must be developed using key elements of the 1930s Streamline design trend, giving it evident directional motion. The final product will result in a CAD Surface model with all internal components fitted.

MODELLING

BLUE FOAM

Modelling Stingray in bluefoam allowed for a greater appreciation of form and proportions. I allowed the blue foam model to evolve from its original design which provided me with the creative freedom to explore. An appreciation of the products manufacturing was evident in this process and carried onto the product development stage.

The next process in the product development phase is to suface model using Solidworks. A great deal of skill and knowledge was developed through this process. An appreciation of continuous curvature was applied throughout the model.
